Printmaking
Students will be introduced to traditional printmaking techniques (i.e. relief, monotype) as well as contemporary mixed-media printmaking techniques (i.e. stenciling, silk-screening, and digital applications). After student gain technical skills, they will apply print methods in pursuit of their individual artistic goals including application of their preferred aesthetic style and career related applications (poster design, advertisements, textile printing, and product packaging).
Students will be required to maintain a sketchbook, which will document preliminary ideas, thumbnail sketches, color mixing notes, and project steps. Students will also develop a digital portfolio of their work. Students will engage in aesthetic discussion, critique, and written reflections about their own and their peers work. At the end of the semester students will participate in an exhibit in the school gallery.
