Sketchbook

The purpose of a sketch book is to make you look harder at things, use your imagination, and explore ideas and techniques that interest, challenge, and stimulate you.
REQUIREMENTS: One page per week
1. Weekly Prompts: some weeks will be based on a prompt. This will be completed outside of class time. You should spend 1 hour minimum on each page
2. Independent Sketches: Other weeks will be on any topic of your choosing. Any material, any topic, anything goes! Be creative and take risks!
Stay on Track: Bring your book every day. Books will be checked each Friday during class. Points will be deducted for late work.
BUYING OR MAKING THE BOOK
Select a sturdy book that will last all year. 8x10 or similar size.
If you choose to make one, take your time so it will be something you like and will enjoy working with.

GUIDANCE
1. Use quality materials (Ex: soft pencils intended for sketching)
3. Date your work
4. Don't worry about erasing or creating a "finished piece"
5. Try a variety of materials - pencil, pen, collage, paint. You can also include text or other notation.
6. Go outside your comfort zone, the sketchbook is a place to experiment with materials and ideas!
